The summit will focus on a variety of issues affecting the industry today, including forecasting technology, deregulation, and global warming/climate changes to name a few.

The Minneapolis Marriott City Center will house the 2008 DTN/Meteorlogix Energy Summit.  The Marriott is newly renovated, located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, and conveniently connected to fabulous shopping and entertainment venues via the city's world famous skyway system.

Keynote Speakers
Dr. Gerry Bell will present, "The Science Behind NOAA's Seasonal Hurricane Outlooks".  He is a hurricane specialist and research meteorologist at NOAA's Climate Prediction Center.  His extensive research into climate factors controlling seasonal hurricane activity led to the establishment of NOAA’s seasonal Atlantic hurricane outlooks. He is the chief editor and co-author of the monthly Climate Diagnostics Bulletin, which provides the latest El Niño analysis and diagnosis along with a description and analysis of global weather and climate conditions.

Kerry Emanuel is presenting on, "What Energy and Utility Companies Need to Know About Global Warming, Climate Change and Hurricanes."  He is a professor of atmospheric science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on tropical meteorology and climate, with a specialty in hurricane physics. He is the author or co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and two books, including Divine Wind: The History and Science of Hurricanes and What We Know About Climate Change.
