GENERATIVE CREATIVITY

Transforming the Cultural River

At the Annual IAM gathering this year, we want to create an encounter experience for all attendees. Past conferences have laid the invaluable philosophical and theological groundwork that facilitates the discussion of art, faith and culture. This year we build on that foundation to inspire artists and creative catalysts to engage our culture and create generatively.

To accomplish this we are inviting presenters from many disciplines, industries and backgrounds who have journeyed in this process. Through their art, stories, projects and initiatives they will help us more fully understand our place in culture as artists and how our work and passions can have a transformational impact on our world. We also continue the juried art exhibition and juried music competition, and have added a NEW walk-in exhibition and NEW curated film series.  We have the ability to accomadate 500 registrants this year, which will make this one of the most dynamic gatherings to date.

Friday’s topical workshops provide content that not is not just inspirational but equally practical. You might choose to participate in a workshop and explore ideas such as unclogging your creativity and what practical steps help realize your goals, or, you’ll also have the opportunity to get out into the community to experience the best New York has to offer - from art to history to tourism.

On Saturday you’ll gather with your disciplinary colleagues, panelists and moderators, to wrestle with the concepts presented in the large group sessions. There you can also share your work with others, get valuable feedback, brainstorm collaborations and gain understanding of how your work and your faith can be integrated and transformative.

At the Encounter’s end, it is our hope that you will not only walk away invigorated and overflowing with ideas, but also with a practical framework to see your vision and your creativity flourish, uniting with the work of all us to transform the cultural river.
