2009 Pediatric Flexible Bronchoscopy Course September 22-25, 2009 Cincinnati, Ohio Course Description This course is an intensive four-day program involving lectures, demonstrations, hands-on laboratory exercises in model systems, video laboratories which review normal and abnormal endoscopic findings, and a BAL lab. The course is designed to give a comprehensive introduction to pediatric bronchology, and assumes no previous endoscopic experience. Pediatric pulmonologists and other pediatric subspecialists with interest are invited to attend. Registration is limited to 48 physicians. Endoscopy assistants may also attend the course; they will attend all the lectures, video laboratories, and demonstrations, but will only be observers in the hands-on laboratory sessions. Tuition Tuition for physicians is $2,500. A $100 non-refundable registration fee will be credited towards the tuition. Tuition for non-physicians is $500 ($100 non-refundable registration fee credited towards tuition). The tuition does not include hotel or travel expenses, but does include daily luncheons and a dinner on Thursday evening, as well as a comprehensive syllabus. Travel Arrangements The course will begin at 0730 on Tuesday morning, and will end at approximately 1600 on Friday. The travel time to/from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport (CVG) is approximately one hour. Please make your travel plans accordingly. We recommend contacting Executive Transportation to arrange ground transportation. Reservations can be made in advance by calling 859-261-8841 or 1-800-990-8841. Arrangements can also be made the day of through the Airport Executive Shuttle agent located near baggage claim. Tuesday evening reception On the first night of the course, there will be an opening reception from 6:00-7:30 PM in the 5/3 Sabin Auditorium at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. During this time, participants will also be able take brief tours of various units throughout the hospital. These units include: Pediatric Intensive Care units (PICU, CICU, NICU), Sleep Lab, Chronic Trach/Vent unit (TCC) and Operating Room/Bronchoscopy Suite. Thursday evening social event On Thursday, September 24th we will have a dinner cruise on the Ohio River aboard the Destiny Yacht. This evening will allow participants to socialize with other registrants and faculty, enjoy the Cincinnati skyline, and food for which Cincinnati is known. Transportation will be provided to and from the boat dock. This event is for registered participants only. Accreditation Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is accredited by the Ohio State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(s)TM.
