What should a registration form look like?

It can be a difficult task to design a registration form for your event.  You need to include pertinent information while not overloading your attendee.  You need to collect enough information to register the attendee (and to judge the effectiveness of your marketing) without drawing out the process. 

So what information is absolutely necessary on a registration form?  Here are the basics:

  • Your logo
  • Event Title and Date
  • Event Location
  • The cost for attendance
  • The event agenda
  • An indication of how long the process is (page numbers or a timeline)

Of course, it can be difficult to include all of this on a paper registration form, but it should be included within the registration packet.

There are also some extra features that RegOnline recommends you place on your registration form to help your attendees make their decision:

  • A guarantee
  • If online: signs of security like a Hackersafe logo and a privacy policy
  • If online: an 'Invite a Friend' link
  • Reasons the registrant should attend, or a "What you will learn/gain..." section
  • Photos from previous events
  • Names of famous speakers or guests
  • A way to get in touch with you when registrants have questions (email, 800 number, etc.)

Adding these items to a registration form will greatly increase the likelihood that attendees will register right away.
