WASHINGTON DC!!
The Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment is excited to announce DC Boot Camp 2012 a one-week hands-on program where you will learn the “do’s and don’ts” of funding your research and how to have impact in the policy environment of Washington DC.
Twenty graduate students and postdocs will garner first hand knowledge about national policy development, partnership building and public service, leadership and communications skills and how to use those skills and their research for the greatest impact.
This five-day trip is hosted in partnership with the Bing Stanford in Washington Program as part of Stanford Woods Institute's Rising Environmental Leaders Program. The goals of the program include:
- Complement students’ formal education with hands on, experiential learning
- Provide knowledge on opportunities to maximize research impact
- Build network of peers and partners across sectors - government, NGOs, think tanks, and business.
- Provide exposure to career tracks outside academia
All environmental graduate and postdocs are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants affiliated with the Woods Institute or Woods-affiliated projects.
The application deadline is November 28, 2011
Students will be informed if they have been accepted into this program by December 9th 2011.
