Summer is just one day away and it’s time to light your grills. Prepare early for July 4th and learn how to barbecue from the meat guru himself, Pat LaFrieda. Manhattan's leading meat authority and owner of Pat LaFrieda Wholesale Meat Purveyors teamed up with Eataly when we first opened in 2010 to bring you one of the best butcher departments in town. Now he’s back to teach his first ever summer grilling class. Together with the Chef of La Scuola, Pat will explain and demonstrate how to prepare a 4-course feast on your grill, serving each dish for guests to enjoy. Dishes will be paired with complementary wines and guests will receive adapted recipes and tasting notes to take home.

Pat LaFrieda runs Pat LaFrieda Wholesale Meat Purveyors, a meat supplier in the West Village that was founded in 1922 by his grandfather, "the original Pat LaFrieda." Pat was always drawn to the family business, helping out from the time he was in elementary school. After a brief stint as a Wall Street stock broker (and with a degree in business to boot) Pat followed his namesake and committed himself to revitalizing his family's company. At the time, Pat and his father were the only butchers, his aunt handled the orders, and the business served under a hundred restaurants in the city; today the company has over a hundred employees and handles over 600 local accounts, as well as shipping to about a hundred restaurants along the East Coast. Pat owes much of his company's success to having fundamentally remained the sort of quirky, homespun operation that is increasingly endangered in New York City. Pat and his enterprise are the stars of the new Food Network show, “Meat Men.”
