Set within the context of America’s struggling education system, Inspire Me Africa is a story about who teachers are, who they want to be, and how their extraordinary experiences can inspire students. It is a powerful call to action for us all to reconsider the profession of teaching. 100% money raised at the premier will benefit:
• The Emusoi School for teenage girls to become educated and realize their potential and self worth, rather than enter into early marriage. Emusoi empowers girls, develops their skills for themselves and to be change makers within their community.
• St. Timothy’s School project in Moshi to build water filtration and electrical systems, and a nursery school on the compound so the youngest children can have an opportunity for education as well.
• Shalom Orphanage in Karatu, a self-sustaining farm-based orphanage founded in 2004 now shelters over 60 children. Its mission is relief advocacy and improvement of the lives of dis- advantaged children regardless of religion, tribe or ethnicity.
• A Denver hub for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots initiative so that Colorado students can connect with a global service learning effort towards the welfare of human communities, animals, and the environment. This hub will train teachers in service learning and support their engagement with schools in Africa as well as within their own communities.
