Query letters are an important tool for any writer to master.  It is how you introduce your book to a publisher, a reviewer, or other authors in your writing circle.

Moving your books sales or getting a publisher interested in your writing can all come down to your query letter.  A bad query letter could move your book to the rejection pile before it even gets a chance to shine.  On amazon.com, where book sales depend on number of reviews and internet buzz, query letters are a powerful tool.

Presenter Bio:
Jessica Swanson is a former New Yorker who moved out of the city because she got tired of collecting quarters for laundry.  She has a master’s degree from Harvard University and was the recipient of the Joseph M. Fletcher Award for excellent master’s thesis.  Her interests include North Korean literature, short stories, literature of rebellion, and surrealism.  On a professional level, she has worked at Entrepreneur, the Los Angeles Times, and occasionally teaches graduate level courses in academic writing for the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in Seoul.  She has lost more than a few friends because of her compulsive need to edit everything that crosses her line of vision--including, but not limited to, cereal boxes, road signs, and one very poorly worded death certificate. Her very fun and interactive training style always leaves her students wanting more!
