FMCP Leadership Meeting: Improving Patient Care Through Research, Practice and Leadership
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM (Pacific Time)

Moscone West Convention Center
San Francisco, California
United States

Overview/Meeting Objectives:

The Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy (FMCP) Leadership Meeting will be an opportunity for AMCP members and other healthcare professionals to share ideas and concepts to improve patient care through “Leadership-Research-Practice.” Faculty and presenters will share their leadership journey and insights that help them achieve improved patient care through times of change.

The FMCP Leadership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 just prior to AMCP’s 24th Annual Meeting and Expo which begins on Wednesday, April 18.  Approximately 200 people are anticipated to attend the FMCP Leadership Meeting. The audience for this program will consist of pharmacists, managed care leaders and pharmaceutical industry executives who are involved in the managed-care industry.

The purpose of the FMCP Leadership Meeting is to create a venue for the sharing of ideas and concepts related to pharmacists taking a leadership role in transforming the health care environment, specifically, we invite comments and questions from the participants about leadership.  What will it take for pharmacy to move forward, meeting the challenges of research, practice models, and education and the goals of the triple aim?
  • Improve the health of the population
  • Enhance the patient experience of care
  • Reduce, or at least control, the cost of care
The final session of the meeting will highlight a presentation and panel session lead by Dean Speedie and Dean Koda-Kimble taking the information from the day’s program and creating a set of recommendations for managed care pharmacists that will challenge and shape their leadership skills:
  • What are managed care's leadership challenges in improving patient care?
  • What are the models-metrics-philosophy needed to ensure that pharmacists play a leading role in healthcare reform?
  • How can education-practice-leadership prepare pharmacy and pharmacists to lead?
