Meeting of the Minds Dementia Conference 2013
is the premier conference for persons with dementia, care partners, families, friends and professionals. The Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota in collaboration with Mayo Clinic invite you to join us for this day of inspiration and information.
PLEASE READ each page during the registration process thoroughly.

Allow enough time to complete the entire registration at one time. If you do not complete the process in a timely manner, the system will time out and you will need to re-register as your registration will be incomplete.

SPECIAL INFORMATION for Persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
or Early Dementia and their Care Partners


This conference is designed to meet the needs of people with MCI or early dementia. However, the conference setting and content may not be suitable to everyone. Please keep the following in mind:

* Most sessions are 75 minutes in length with a 20 minute break between sessions
* There will be over 1000 in attendance-a very active and stimulating environment
* Persons insightful about their disease who are able to verbally express their thoughts and needs will be the most comfortable

Meetup Lunch Gathering
Join us if you are a person with MCI or early dementia or a care partner for lunch and social networking. This is an opportunity to meet other individuals on this journey and to hear about other resources in your community. There will be an opportunity to register for the Meetup Lunch Gathering when you are selecting your breakout sessions. Space is limited for this Meetup so register early.

RiverView Retreat
The RiverView Retreat is a room available throughout the day for conference attendees with MCI or early dementia and their care partners, friends and family. who may need a quiet space for a break or to visit with others. PLEASE NOTE that the conference does not provide respite care in this room or at any other location in the RiverCentre for people with MCI or early dementia.


NEW FOR 2013:


Conference Sessions are being labeled and divided into four NEW categories. Those categories and definitions are:

Living With (LW): Living With Sessions are recommended for people with early dementia and their care partners. Look for B/LW (Basic Living With) or G/LW (General Living With) when choosing your sessions.

BASIC (B): Basic Sessions are recommended for attendees with one year or less experience with Alzheimer's or related dementias. These sessions will not contain technical language. 

GENERAL (G): General Sessions are recommended for attendees with more than a year of experience with Alzheimer's or related dementias. These sessions could have some technical language.

ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL (AP): Advanced Professional Sessions are for those professionals with solid clinical and practical knowledge. Medical terminology will be used. These sessions are ONLY for those registering as a professional. (Not BASIC or GENERAL attendees)


 REGISTRANT TYPE

 When you begin online registration, you will be asked to select a registrant type:

Person with Early Dementia
This registration type is for people with MCI or early dementia who are attending the conference. Please be aware that people selecting this type should be able to stay interested and focused for an hour at a time; verbally communicate thoughts, feelings or needs; be comfortable in social situations about their disease; have insight about their disease. (*) Although not required, it is highly recommended that persons with early dementia attend sessions with their care partners.

Person Accompanying Person with Early Dementia
This registration type could be the primary caregiver for the person with early dementia or the person coming with the person with early dementia to the conference.(*) Although not required, it is highly recommended that care partners attend sessions with their person with MCI or early dementia.

Friend/Family/Student
This registration type is for care partners, family and friends of people with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or early dementia. Those registering as Friend/Family/Student WILL NOT receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the conference. If you are a Friend/Family/Student and also a professional in need of a certificate of attendance, you will need to register as a professional. 

Professional
This registrant type is for people attending the conference in a professional capacity. You must register under this type to receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the conference. Professionals also have the option to receive group discounts for registrations of five or more staff from one organization.
The certificate of attendance will be available at the end of the conference following the closing speakers. There are no exceptions.

Family Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available for family members. Scholarships must be requested IN ADVANCE of the registration process as there is a discount code that must be applied. The discount code MUST be used by 5 PM on Friday, February 22, 2013 to be valid.

Discount for International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART) Members:

If you are a member of ISTAART, you can receive a $25 discount off your professional registration for the conference during the Early Bird registration period (January 7 - February 7). Please call 952.857.0548 and provide your name, phone number and ISTAART number. You will receive a call back with your discount code upon verification of your ISTAART membership. You must have the code BEFORE you begin your online registration process..

Group discounts available for professionals:
When 5 or more professionals register from the same company/organization, a discount of $20 is applied to each registration. To take advantage of this discount professionals must register together by selecting "add another person" during the registration process. After all members of the group have been registered the, fees for all registrants in the group will be added together and charged to the credit card of the first person in the group. If different members of the group are paying individually (for example with different credit cards), you must create separate registrations for each and the group discount will not apply. The discount code MUST be used by 5 PM on Friday, February 22, 2013 to be valid.
