Map and Directions
The Michigan Association of Drug Court Professionals (MADCP), in cooperation with the Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI), is pleased to host a two-day conference specifically designed to meet the educational needs of circuit, district, family and probate court judges, judicial branch staff, healthcare providers, treatment providers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement officers and administrators, probation/parole officers, community corrections staff, legislators and legislative staff and anyone who deals with drug and alcohol abuse. Whether or not your jurisdiction has a Drug Treatment Court, this conference will enhance your skills in dealing with the needs of substance abusing defendants/clients.

Research on drug courts has made it clear that fidelity to the model results in the best outcomes for program participants. With some courts entering their second decade of operation, there may have been significant turnover in team members, or a gradual drifting away from the Ten Key Components and best practices.  Recognizing that many team members currently working with drug courts have not had a thorough orientation to the overall goals of the program, or may not know how the 10 Key Components apply or what is needed to sustain a program over time, MADCP is encouraging all courts, old or new, to give their court a “tune-up”.

This year’s conference will begin with a hard look at what is going on in the programs around the state, followed by a review of the importance of adherence to the Ten Key Components and best practices. Breakout sessions will be available that allow you to either learn for the first time, or reacquaint yourself with the basic components of a successful program.

In the year to come, and at the 2014 conference, MADCP will be developing the means for courts to analyze their fidelity to the model and to identify areas that might need to be re-tooled. We look forward to working with you to provide the best outcomes possible for participants of your program.

Registration and Fees $275.00
The registration fee includes conference materials, a one year complimentary MADCP membership, and continental breakfast and luncheon for both days of the conference. All other expenses (including dinners, lodging, gratuities, phone calls, parking, mileage, etc.) are the responsibility of the participant  After March 2, 2013, there is an additional late registration fee of $50.00. Each registrant will be charged an additional fee of $3 for the Kellogg Center parking garage. This is the discounted rate we are entitled to as a conference group. Regular price to park is $8 per day.

Note to SCAO Funded Treatment Courts:
As long as the MADCP conference registration expense is listed on the courts' FY 2013 approved budget,  jurisdictions approved for grant funding from SCAO drug court grants may seek reimbursement  for registration costs for up to three drug court team members to attend this conference. Travel, hotel, parking, and meal reimbursement for the conference will not be covered by grant funds.

Nominate a Michigan Drug Court Hero
MADCP recognizes that it takes many good people to keep up the good work of drug courts.  That is why we choose to recognize "Michigan Drug Court Heroes" each year at our annual conference.

We are again seeking names and stories of folks that you feel have contributed in a special way to the success of your sobriety, adult felony, juvenile, family dependency or veteran's court.  We hope to find and recognize an outstanding representative from each major role in the drug court team:  probation staff/case manager, defense counsel, prosecutor, judge, drug court administrator, treatment provider, police liaison, community volunteer and program graduate/alumni.

Download and complete the form for the Hero Nomination and submit to shelleykaywright@aol.com by February 1, 2013.
Nominators will be informed of the status of their nomination by mid February.  Alerting the recipient will be up to their discretion.  Awards will be announced at the MADCP conference on March 12-13, 2013.  We are again seeking names and stories of folks that you feel have contributed in a special way to the success of your sobriety, adult felony, juvenile, family dependency or veteran's court.
