The 60th  Family Medicine Review provides 5½  days of outstanding continuing medical education on recent developments in patient management for Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Nurses, Residents and AHPs.  The Family Medicine Review is presented by expert faculty members of the University of Colorado School of Medicine in a format of morning lectures and afternoon interactive workshops.  The purpose of the Family Medicine Review is to improve knowledge, skills, competence, performance and patient outcomes.

Learning/Performance Objectives
At the conclusion of the conference learners should be able to:

  1. review the transformation in American Healthcare and contrast to their own practices
  2. summarize what vaccinations are recommended in the US and apply strategies for effective vaccination
  3. differentiate clinical situations where antibiotics are appropriate vs those where it is of no benefit
  4. counsel obese patients about life-style change and prescribe pharmacologic agents when appropriate
  5. analyze clinical situations in diabetes mellitus where newer therapies should be considered and initiate and adjust these therapies
  6. evaluate patients with chronic pain and provide appropriate interventions
  7. distinguish and manage hoarseness, dizziness, and hearing loss in primary care practice and prescribe referrals when necessary
  8. implement effective strategies for smoking cessation in a primary care practice

                    
 
The
Family Medicine Review consists of 21 lectures, 15 workshops and a Group S.A.M. on Hypertension. Learners will have the opportunity to select from multiple 1 hour interactive workshops during the week. Morning and afternoon snacks/beverages will be provided in addition to the traditional Monday night barbeque for all!

Included in registration are both a flash drive with all presentations and access to an internet based virtual syllabus. Bring your laptops/notebooks/notepads and/or iPads. If you need a paper syllabus there is a $50 print fee.

Registration fee includes a $100 non-refundable administrative charge.  No refunds are available for cancellations after June 9, 2013 or for non-attendance.  Onsite registration is an additional $50 fee.
