We are pleased to offer you this introductory course on cochlear implants. This course is intended for those who are new to working with cochlear implants, have little to no experience with the evalaution, surgical procedure, programming, and follow up for recipients.

Topics covered in this course include:
  • The candidacy and evalaution process for CI 
  • Counseling candidates for CI
  • Medical and surgical issues
  • Hands-on programming training with Custom Sound software
  • Hands-on training with the Freedom speech processors
  • Electrical stimulation and how the Freedom works
  • What do to at the Initial Activation and beyond
  • And much more!!

If the information in the quiz is new or challenging, we look forward to seeing you at the Introductory Workshop; if the information was review for you and you are interested in further cochlear implant or Baha training, please contact your local clinical Applications Specialist and let him/her know you are interested in an intermediate training course.

For each workshop the CI training will be held 8:00am - 5:00pm on Wednesday and Thursday and half day on Friday from 8:00am - 12:00 Noon.

Cochlear Americas is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. This program is offered for Introductory Level; Professional area CEU's (1.7). ASHA CE Provider approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedures.

American Academy of Audiology (AAA) CEU's have also been applied (1.7).

Please note there is not a fee for this workshop; however you are responsible for your own travel arrangements.
