Energy Workshop for K-6 Educators
The Arkansas Energy Office and NEED have partnered to provide teachers across the state of Arkansas with curriculum and training opportunities and are pleased to announce an upcoming workshop at the Embassy Suites Little Rock on March 8, 2012. This workshop will provide K-6 science teachers an opportunity to learn about energy in an exciting way. The Arkansas Energy Office and NEED believe it is important to provide professional development opportunities for classroom teachers and to provide engaging and exciting energy curriculum for students in today’s classrooms.
Thanks to the sponsorship of The Arkansas Energy Office, there is no cost to attend the workshop. Breakfast, lunch, and $100 stipend are included and will be provided at the workshop.
The NEED Project’s mission is to promote an energy conscious and educated society. The NEED Project includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators. NEED is the nation’s leading provider of energy education programs and materials to schools. All NEED learning activities are correlated to Arkansas state science objectives. The program will make teaching energy exciting and fun.
Participation in this workshop provides educators with a FREE NEED Science of Energy Kit designed to teach the concepts of force, motion, light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism, and energy transformations through hands-on activities. Educators will also receive a Saving Energy and Home Energy Efficiency kits designed to discuss energy efficiency though classroom activities.
