Leading the March Towards Equity and Human Rights for 150 Years and Counting!

The 2013 Equity and Human Rights Conference captures the essence in CTA’s Mission Statement: to ensure that the dignity and civil rights of all children and youth are protected, and to secure a more equitable and democratic society. The conference combines speakers and workshops to provide all CTA members with a greater understanding of the issues of diversity and equity.

Conference Highlights

Dinner and Entertainment – Friday Evening

The opening session will begin after dinner and will feature opening remarks and entertainment.
Take advantage of
the opportunity to network with conference attendees and CTA officers.

Workshops of Interest – Saturday and Sunday

The Conference Planning Committee has arranged for four workshop time slots, three on Saturday and one on Sunday morning. These workshops will cover topics of special interest in promoting diversity, reducing racism, addressing women’s issues, and training on how to withstand attacks on public education. In all, you will be able to choose from over 45 workshops.

Human Rights Awards Luncheon – Saturday

The CTA Human Rights Awards are presented annually to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves in the advancement and protection of the human and civil rights of CTA members and students. The luncheon will recognize the 2013 award winners, and will feature CTA President Dean Vogel as the guest speaker.

Student Entertainment – Sunday Brunch

Each year the Sunday brunch features student entertainment from local area schools. Always a highlight of the conference, the students never fail to bring the audience to its feet as the students perform in this showcase of talent.
