Keynote Descriptions

Green AV:  From Oxymoron to Opportunity
Scott Walker, President & CEO, Waveguide Consulting

The green building movement is exploding and fundamentally remaking the way buildings are designed and built.  This keynote looks at the dynamic growth in the green building movement, explores ways AV professionals can deploy green solutions to meeting their clients' sustainability goals, and highlights areas where Panasonic has been leading in the development of greener AV products.  Scott Walker is the first design consultant to hold both the LEED® AP and Certified Technology Specialist in Design accreditations, and he has been instrumental in leading InfoComm's Green AV efforts to establish an AV technology LEED® credits.

Projectors for the Digital Age
Peter Putman, President, ROAM Consulting LLC

Today's projectors are vastly different from models offered just years ago.  The industry is evolving away from 4:3 aspect ratios and analog signal connections to widescreen high-resolution projection and digital interfaces such as CVI and HDMI.  Ethernet connections, wired and wireless, are also becoming popular for operation and remote diagnostics. Inside the box, we're seeing more efficient lamps and "green" modes, improvements in optics, and support for a wider range of desktop and notebook PC standards.  And of course, brightness, contrast and color performance continue to improve with each passing year.

Digital Signage an Educational Tool
Alan C. Brawn, Brawn Consulting

Today's media-savvy youth respond well to mediums where the message is presented and easily accessible at all times on a larger scale from computers to small cell phones to digital signage.  Studies have shown that using digital signage in the educational environment is literally a no-brainer and is a fundamental tool in closing that "education gap".  We can see that digital signage in various iterations provide tangible value beyond initial costs for educational institutions of all types.  Digital signage can provide emergency systems, on-air bulletin boards, campus TV networks, school news and weather, local area and school event calendars.  A digital signage system can also assist a professor's instructional efforts.  They can serve as video-extension and distance-learning setups.  A lecture can be broadcast from one class room to many or you can set up an IP-based digital signage system to stream a lecture at the main campus to a branch campus over the Web.  Learn more during this exceptional keynote address.
