Organic  residuals  are  rapidly  emerging  as  valuable resources to meet many community needs. At the same time, communities are facing challenges to ensure reliable food and energy supplies,   maintain healthy soils, and mitigate climate  change.

At  VORS  ’09 we will look at  the existing uses of organics residuals, competing markets for these materials, and  current and emerging technologies.

  • Learn about methods to manage organic materials, and about technologies to turn food residuals into energy and nutrients.
  • Explore and identify policy criteria for ‘highest and best use’ of organic materials.
  • Create real world next steps for Vermont to achieve its organics diversion and sustainability goals.
  • Network with composters, researchers, technical consultants, regulators and others with an interest in organic materials and anaerobic digesters.
