Accreditation

The University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

UC DENVER SOM - The University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 32.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

AAFP – Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Physicians.  Determination of credit is pendingUpdate 4/1/09 - This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 32.5 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

 

AOA – American Osteopathic Association credit may be claimed up to 32.5 Category 2A hours.

 

AAPA - AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for Category I credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 32.5 hours of Category I credit for completing

this program.

 

Learning Objectives

 

At the conclusion of the conference, learners should be able to:

  1. Implement Evidence-based Prevention Recommendations in practice.
  2. Know which patients should have annual screening for Chlamydia trachomatis.
  3. Implement an initial treatment regime for newly diagnosed Hypertension
  4. Develop a plan of care that identifies services to be provide for a patient newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
  5. In an adolescent athlete, know how to evaluate and manage his/her concussion.

Proposed Performance Measures:

% of adult patients with cognitive impairment or dementia who have had serum B12 and TSH levels measured (based on the 2001 American Academy of Neurology Practice Parameter on Diagnosis of Dementia)

% of sexually active females in your practice, aged less than or equal to 25, with annual screening for Chlamydia trachomatis (based upon CDC, 2006 STD Guidelines)

% of females 13 through 26 years old who are counseled about the HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer (based upon Advisory Committee in Immunization Practices, 2006)

% of persons with a 10 year hip fracture probability greater than or equal to 3% or absolute risk for any major osteoporotic fracture greater than or equal to 20% who initiate treatment. (National Osteoporosis Foundation)  

 Workshops
The Family Medicine Review consists of lectures and workshops.  Learners will have the opportunity to select from 15 different interactive 1.5 hour workshops during the week.  Workshops are listed on the course schedule and available on a first come, first served basis.
