Conference Description:
This program will provide primary care and family medicine physicians, and allied health professionals, with a multidisciplinary approach to the management of acute and chronic activity-related injuries. The target audience will be private practice, community and academic practice Primary Care Physicians-Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Residents, Medical Students and Allied Health Professionals.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program the participant should be able to:
· Understand, diagnose and treat common sports-related injuries and conditions.
· Review relevant anatomy and diagnostic tests available for evaluating injury (including ultrasound).
· Understand the etiology and prevention strategies for sport-specific and age-specific injuries.
· Discuss various treatment options with an understanding of prevailing theories on therapeutic exercise and the medical treatment of injuries.
· Evaluate and perform common orthopaedic injections.
· Administer and place basic splints for immobilization of common injuries.
