TXU Energy and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project have partnered to provide teachers in the TXU Energy service area with the TXU Energy Solar Academy – a program that provides educators with solar energy curriculum, hands-on classroom materials and teacher training.
The TXU Energy Solar Academy is pleased to announce the upcoming TXU Energy Solar Academy Workshop to be held November 16, 2009 in McAllen at the International Museum of Art and Science. This workshop presents a unique opportunity for classroom teachers (K-12) to learn about the science of solar energy in a unique and exciting way!
Participation in this workshop provides educators with over $800 of curriculum and hands-on kits that teach about the science of solar energy while providing resources that align to the TEKS and will assist students in grasping concepts associated with the TAKS.
Thanks to the support of TXU Energy, there is no cost to attend the workshop. Breakfast and lunch are provided also! Substitute reimbursement forms will be provided at the completion of the workshop. If your district has a question about reimbursement, contact NEED at 800-875-5029.
The NEED Project includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators. NEED materials and training programs provide comprehensive, objective information about the scientific concepts of energy and the sources of energy – their use and their impact on the environment, the economy and society.
