October 7 – Oak Brook November 5 - Chicago
October 15 – Joliet November 18- Crystal Lake
ComEd and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project are excited to announce the upcoming Illinois Energy Workshops to be held at multiple locations throughout the ComEd service area. Classroom teachers (K-12) will have a unique opportunity to learn about energy in a fun and exciting way! Directions to the workshops will be sent with registration confirmation.
Thanks to ComEd’s sponsorship, there is no cost to attend the workshop. Breakfast and lunch are provided!
Substitute costs will be reimbursed to school districts and substitute reimbursement forms will be provided upon completion of the workshop. Please plan to attend the workshop for the entire day. If you are unable to attend the entire workshop, please register for an alternative date. Preference is giving to attendees who have not attended a ComEd sponsored workshop.
The NEED Project’s mission is to promote an energy conscious and educated society. NEED is the nation’s leading provider of energy education programs and materials to schools. All NEED learning activities are correlated to Illinois science objectives. The program will make teaching energy exciting and fun.
Participation in this workshop provides educators with a FREE NEED Science of Energy Kit designed to teach the concepts of force, motion, light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism and energy transformations through hands-on activities.
The NEED program includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement and professional development for educators. NEED materials and training programs provide comprehensive, objective information about the scientific concepts of energy and the sources of energy – their use and their impact on the environment, the economy and society.
Be sure to register no later than 10 days prior to the workshop.
