The Future of Ultrafast Soft X-ray Science

Berkeley Lab is one of the major drivers in the United States for a Next Generation Soft X-ray Light Source. Large-scale facilities of this kind will provide phase-coherent pulses at high repetition rates, in the attosecond regime, with unprecedented brightness, tunability beyond 1 keV and polarization control.

The Future of Ultrafast Soft X-ray Science workshop will bring together a selection of ~50 leaders of various ultrafast research disciplines to discuss and dispute their most recent advances, their scientific ambitions, and their expectations for the field of ultrafast soft x-ray science in general. The workshop discussions will be centered around the possibilities that will open up with the next generation of soft x-ray lasers with the goal to derive a road map for the first series of experiments.
