The purpose of this event is to raise money for the educational advancement of the youth from the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indian Reservation and the community of Athens, Michigan.
In addition, communities along the Great Lakes Heritage Trail on the St. Joseph River are hoping that your participation will bring an awareness of the both the natural beauty and the historical significance of this area of Michigan.
Participants will be camping on the “new” Indian reservation, cycling though beautiful, historical southwestern Michigan and launching canoes and kayaks from an historical landmark, the old Indian Reservation. Saturday evening’s entertainment will include music and performances that highlight our historical beginnings and interconnectedness. Our Sunday morning Indian Sunrise Ceremony will welcome the sun and provide a rich spiritual beginning to a day of peaceful floating on the pristine St. Joseph River.
