The Family Justice Center Alliance welcomes law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, shelter staff,  artwork by Claudia Fernetycommunity-based victim advocates, civil attorneys, judges, counselors, policy makers, elected officials, board members, survivors, parole and probation officers, rape crisis workers, medical personnel, educators, and all others interested in the future of family violence prevention. National and international speakers will share their expertise in the area of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, sexual assault and funding. This conference will focus on training matter within the contexts of leadership, accountability to survivors, guiding principles and promising practices in the rapidly evolving national and international movement toward Family Justice Centers and other approaches to co-located, multidisciplinary services for victims of family violence and their children.  The conference will also include practical, hands-on training for police officers, prosecutors, advocates, and medical professionals in the day to day handling of domestic violence cases.

Conference Description
The three-day conference, "Dream Big. Start Small" will include discussions on issues related to the handling of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse cases and funding in the context of the Family Justice Center model. The conference faculty includes nationally & internationally recognized subject matter experts, advocates, and survivors.

Workshops will highlight the importance of leadership, accountability to survivors, guiding principles, and promising practices. The conference will include information about successful and struggling Family Justice Centers, including lessons learned from communities pursuing co-located services for victims using a variety of co-location models. 

During the conference participants will have the opportunity to tour the Bexar County Family Justice Center and meet with survivors and professionals who currently work in Family Justice Centers in the United States and internationally.

Scholarship Opportunity:
The Office for Victims of Crime is pleased to announce the availability of Professional Development Scholarships to those who work with victims of crime. The program provides up to $1,000 for individuals and up to $5,000 for multidisciplinary teams of victim service professionals seeking continuing education opportunities. Scholarship awards are based on eligibility, are limited to available funds, and are processed in the order in which applications are received. To apply for an OVC Professional Development (PD) Scholarship, read the PD Scholarship FAQs and complete the Online Application Form. The completed application form must be received by OVC TTAC at least 45 days prior to the start of the event (FJC Conference). If you have any questions, please call 1-866-OVC TTAC.

The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has provided approval for Arrest and Rural Program Grantees to use grant travel funds to send up to 5 members of a multi-disciplinary team to the 10th Annual International Family Justice Center Conference in Bexar County, TX, Tuesday, April 27, 2010 - Thursday, April 29, 2010. All other OVW grantees must obtain prior approval from their OVW program manager before using grant funding for this purpose.

Cancellations:
Registration cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellation requests postmarked on or before March 31, 2010, will be refunded in full, less a $50 administrative fee. Cancellation requests postmarked between April 1 and April 15, 2010 will be refunded 50% of the registration fee. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE MADE FOR CANCELLATIONS POSTMARKED AFTER APRIL 15, 2010, OR, FOR PARTICIPANTS WHO REGISTER BUT DO NOT ATTEND. Transfer of registration fees to another person may be done without penalty online.
