Workshop Description:
Join us at the Christine Center among the beautiful prairies and woods of Willard, WI and learn firsthand how straw bale buildings go together. This one of a kind building will incorporate many sustainable practices: whole tree timber-framing, recycled-pallet-wall framing, straw bale infill, living roof and much more.
This class on straw bale construction with experienced natural builder Mark Morgan will take you from toe ups to plaster. Learn how to prep the bales, what they sit on and how they connect to each other, the windows, doors, ceiling and roof. Then finish the walls with plaster and stucco. There will be two workshops on back-to-back weekends with an opportunity to stay between for more time and experience. Bring gloves, work boots, safety glasses, ear protection work clothes and come ready to work!
