Mission of Neurologic Physical Therapy Professional Education Consortium

  • Promote the development of Neurologic Physical Therapy Clinical Education throughout the United States by offering a didactic education series that assists in preparation for specialty certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy.
  • Promote the development of Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Programs by offering the classroom/laboratory education that fulfills the didactic component of APTA residency credentialing requirements.

Program Overview

The coursework is divided into two 4-day blocks to maximize your educational experience and minimize your time away from the clinic. Our educational approach includes labs, on-line resources and activities, patient case presentations and analysis.

Pre-course preparation will include review of case studies, peer reviewed journal articles and short assignments. Kathy Sullivan, PhD, PT, FAHA will present 5 webinars (Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30PST) starting June 22ndContinuing education registrants may participate in all 5 webinars, but are only required to participate on June 22nd and July 13th. If you are not able to participate in the webinars, you can view a recorded link at a later time.  We will send you all information about logging into the webinars and the assignments once you are registered.

Module I: July 29-August 1, 2010 (Module I includes the APTA Neurologic Section course: Neurologic Practice Essentials: A Measurement Toolbox on July 31-August 1, 2010) ***held at USC Health Sciences campus
*Nearest airport is Burbank airport

Module II: November 11-14, 2010 Intervention, Analysis and Techniques***held at USC training facility close to LAX International Airport

Who Should Attend?

Licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants.  Courses are appropriate for clinicians enrolled in neurologic residency programs, preparing for the NCS exam (curriculum covers the Neurologic DSP) or simply interested in advancing their practice for persons with neurologic impairments.

One Year Subscription to USC’s Online Library Resources (this is not necessary if you are only taking the toolbox course)

A 10% group discount applies when 3 or more individuals from the same institution register for the course.

Participants will need access to online library databases to complete pre-program readings.  An annual subscription to USC's online library services can be purchased fpr $95.  If you are an APTA member of your employer provides access to journals, you will not need a subscription.
