Advances in Cardiac Science and Therapeutics (a 9-month series)
Hello,

Heart and vascular diseases continue to pose significant threats to well being in our society. The University of Chicago Heart and Heart Surgery programs continue to step up to the forefront of cardiac care by providing their basic and clinical expertise in treating and preventing cardiovascular disease. Our distinguished faculty is proud of its roots in education and wants to communicate advances in cardiac science and therapeutics to our peers. The Advances in Cardiac Science and Therapeutics Series is designed to parlay our innovative scientific pursuits with our teaching expertise.

We are delighted to present a case based symposium describing a patient with an evolved myocardial infarction (MI) who weaves their way to require an orthotopic heart transplant. In the course of the patient's care, many critical moments requiring management decisions will be demonstrated and discussed. Intermittently, during the case presentation short didactic vignettes will be delivered to emphasize key interventions designed to improve the patient's quality of life and survival.
