Winter Retreat: Tucson, Arizona (December 27- Jan 6)

 


1. What is the schedule of the retreat, and what time does the retreat start and finish?

The retreat will start on Thursday, December 27, 2012 and end on Sunday January 6, 2013. Please plan to arrive by Thursday afternoon, in time for registration which will open at 4.00 pm. Dinner will be served for all retreat participants at 6:00 pm, and we will give a short welcome and orientation talk for everyone at 8:00 pm. The retreat will end on Sunday with lunch (approximately 2.00 pm) with the opportunity for participants to mingle after the retreat.

The schedule and times of sessions with Andrew Cohen will be announced during the retreat and may vary from day to day. Generally, however, you will engage in two or three sessions with Andrew each day, devoted to a combination of silent meditation, talks, and open dialogues with Andrew. In addition to the teaching sessions, there will also be periods of meditation, facilitated discussion groups, and the opportunity for engaging in discussion with other participants, and time for personal reflection.

2. How much does the retreat cost?

The rates given below cover the entire cost of the retreat, including on-site lodging and three vegetarian meals per day.

Payment Options for the Retreat

To reserve a place on the retreat you will need to submit a deposit of $500.

We are pleased to offer the following options for you to complete your payment:

  • Full Payment: You can make the full payment for the entire retreat by online registration.

  • Installments: If you wish to spread out your payments, you can make the initial online down payment of $500, then pay online at your convenience with minimum installments of $200 at any given time. Please pay the final balance by December 12.

Cancellation Policy

There will be an $80 cancellation fee for written requests received before November 30. Written cancellation requests received after November 30 will be charged a $500 cancellation fee. The retreat begins on December 27; no refunds will be provided on or after that date.


3. Where is the retreat being held? Venue: Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

The retreat is being held at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. The closest airport is Tucson International which is about 20 miles south of the resort. Taxis are available from the airport, with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes.

4. How much is a taxi ride from Tucson International Airport?

A taxi ride from Tucson airport to Loews Ventana Canyon is approximately $55-$58 (plus tip). If you would like the hotel concierge to set up a town car for you the cost is $55, plus tip. Please provide them your flight itinerary and a driver will be waiting for you in baggage claim. The phone number for the concierge is (520) 299 2020.



5. Can I arrive at the venue prior to December 27?

Yes, you can stay at the Loews Ventana Canyon prior to the retreat. Please contact the hotel directly, (520) 299- 2020. You will still need to register for the retreat on December 27 with the EnlightenNext staff.



6. During the retreat will I be able to sit on a chair?

Yes, chairs will be provided in the teaching hall. For seated meditation you may wish to bring your own meditation cushion or purchase one at the hotel. The cost is $30 per cushion.



7. Will internet be available? Can I call family/ friends/ work?

Yes, there is internet access available, but because the retreat is very focused, internet and phone use is not encouraged. There is complimentary WiFi in the lobby and Cascade lounge. There is a standard daily charge applied by the hotel.



8. How is the weather, and what clothes should I bring?

Tucson is dry desert located at 2,400 feet. The temperature ranges from lows in the mid 30's F at night to highs in the 50's F during the day. We suggest comfortable clothing that can be layered due to the cool evenings. There is a fitness center and swimming pools, so you may also wish to bring sportswear and a bathing suit.


Books and Audios:
Andrew Cohen’s books, audios and information on future events will be available at the end of the retreat. It will also be possible to purchase MP3 recordings of all of the sessions.
