Welcome to the Registration website for the DIAKONIA 2009 World Assembly.  
Attendees to the World Assembly are asked to return to this website periodically to check for new or updated information.  
The 20th  World Assembly of the DIAKONIA World Federation will be held at Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) July 20-27, 2009, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
THE ASSEMBLY
The assembly starts on Monday evening, July 20, 2009, with a Service of Celebration, at the Ferst Center for the Arts on the campus of Georgia Tech. 
Check-in will begin at 10 A.M. on Monday morning and continue throughout the day.  Arrival on the GA Tech campus should be scheduled for that date, if possible.  Assembly Ambassadors will be at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) to welcome you to Atlanta.
If you need to arrive prior to July 20, or leave later than July 27, due to travel arrangements from your home country, please provide the details in the Lodging and Travel section of the registration process using the Special Lodging Needs field.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
Summers typically consist of long spells of warm and humid weather. Average afternoon high temperatures are in the upper 80s and 90's.  Overnight lows usually range from the middle 60s to lower 70s.  At the end of July you can expect mid-90 degree (F) temperature readings during the day with moderate to high humidity.  Late afternoon thundershowers can develop quickly.  All Georgia Tech facilities will be air conditioned.
REGISTERING FOR THE ASSEMBLY
The registration process for Portuguese, English and German attendees will be via the Internet.  Individuals requiring a paper registration form should consult the DIAKONIA-World.org website for a registration form, email a member of the DOTAC Central Committee or contact Doris Horn for assembly information and assistance in registration. The cost for attendees:
Fulltime attendees with lodging (Delegates, Friends of DIAKONIA and Executive Committee) - $1,100 for the assembly if registered by February 28, 2009 and $1,200 thereafter.
Fulltime attendees without lodging (Delegates, Friends of DIAKONIA and Executive Committee) - $800 for the assembly if registered by February 28, 2009 and $900 thereafter.
Daily Registration attendees (without lodging) - $310 per day.
Guests of attendees (with lodging) - $600 for the assembly if registered by February 28, 2009 and $700 thereafter.
The TYPES OF REGISTRATION:
DELEGATE - An individual who belongs to a member organization of the DIAKONIA World Federation.
FRIEND OF DIAKONIA - An individual interested in the DIAKONIA World Federation, however, does not belong to a member organization.
DIAKONIA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - An individual who serves on the DIAKONIA Executive Committee.
GUEST - A companion of a Delegate, Friend of DIAKONIA or DIAKONIA Executive Committee.  Guests are not included in the workshops, discussion groups or sponsored visits.  Lodging and meals are provided.
PAYMENT METHODS AND OPTIONS
The preferred method of payment for your registration and fees is using a credit card and paying your balance in full at the time of registration.  Transactions will be charged in US Dollars.
An electronic transfer of funds, bank transfer or wire transfer option is also available. All transfers should be made in US Dollars only.  Paying your balance in full at the time of registration is preferred.  When using a transfer option please include the following information regarding your transaction on the Agenda page:

Control number 
If you do not have all of this information at the time of registration please return to your registration record and add this information when it becomes available.  This will help in applying your payment to your registration record.
Checks will be accepted when issued from a US Bank and in US Dollars.  Paying your balance in full at the time of registration is preferred.  Checks should be made payable to DIAKONIA 2009 World Assembly.  Checks should be mailed directly to the registrar at:

Payments received in non-US Dollars will be returned.
PARTIAL PAYMENTS:
A Partial Payment option is offered when using the credit card option.  The minimum payment amount  per transaction will be $275 in US Dollars or the remaining balance due.  Periodically an e-mail will be sent to you reminding you of the need to make a partial payment and asking you to access your record and authorize a partial payment. When you elect the partial payment option of payment every time you access your record you will be asked to make a partial payment.
To access your record you will need to go to:  www.regonline.com/diakonia2009 and press the REGISTER NOW button.  Click on the REGISTRATION STATUS: EXISTING button.  You will need to login with the e-mail address and password you used at the time of registration.  A list of options displays. 
Click the MAKE PAYMENT link.  The Checkout page displays, which includes your payment history and balance due.  The balance due is the total cost of your registration, less any payments previously made.  Enter your payment information (minimum $275 USD) and click UPDATE MY REGISTRATION.
To hold your registration, final payment of your registration must processed no later than April 20, 2009.
