The Family Assistance Foundation, in conjunction with Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean Cruises International, Yachts of Seabourn, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Aviem International, Inc. and FCCA Information, organizers of the 15th Annual Cruise Conference & Tradeshow; has developed a special Care Awareness Training Program specifically for Port Agents and Ground Services Representatives to be held at the FCCA Conference. This training, a one-day program, is condensed from the full two-day Care Team training program used by major cruise lines today.
About the Program
The Care Awareness program will provide you with additional training and skills to provide more effective and compassionate support for cruise ship passengers when affected by trauma, such as:
• Passengers disembarked at an intermediate port as a result of illness, injury or death.
• Passengers involved in shore excursion accidents
• Families disembarked due to man overboard
• Criminal or sexual assaults
Care Team training is based upon Human Services Response™, a practical approach to helping people in trauma, aimed at empowering employees in business and industry to support people in trauma. Dr. Carolyn V. Coarsey, based on over 22 years of research with survivors and families of disasters and other traumatic events, developed the Human Services Response™ approach. This highly interactive course will include video interviews of cruise line survivors and families, group discussion and role plays based on actual recent events. Employees and agents, with this training, can make a tremendous difference in how passengers and their families recover from their losses by utilizing these basic skills.
