Welcome

Welcome to the Mediterranean Garden Society's 14th Annual General Meeting held from October 9-12, 2008 at the Casa Munras Hotel in Monterey, California. With "California" as our theme, what better place to host the event than Monterey?

Monterey not only reflects our Spanish origins, it is the first capital of California. Its history is romantic and its beauty is breathtaking. The Northern California branch of the Mediterranean Garden Society is pleased to introduce you to this charming and magnificent mediterranean-type climate with its public and secret gardens, beautiful coastlines and hidden pathways.

The four-day event will begin with a welcome reception on Thursday, October 9 at Casa Munras Hotel. Friday and Saturday’s schedule includes private and public garden tours in Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur and Pebble Beach. Highlights of these tours include drives along gorgeous vistas of the Pacific Grove Coast line and into the quaint Village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, made famous by past mayor and actor Clint Eastwood. You’ll also enjoy a trip to the Carmel Mission and the living museum of Point Lobos, labeled the "greatest meeting of land and sea." The program also will highlight both food and wine grown or harvested in the Monterey and Salinas Valley, also known as the "Salad Bowl" of the world.

This year's program offers a one-day Symposium, Gardening Under Mediterranean Skies VI: California!, co-sponsored by Pacific Horticulture magazine. The Symposium includes talks by industry experts and roundtable discussions and is open to members and non members.
