The Montana Mining Association is happy to reintroduce our trade show along with our annual membership meeting. This year’s trade show will be held in Butte, Montana at Montana Tech of the University of Montana. Vendors from the local mining community and beyond will be given the opportunity to network with the who’s who of Montana’s top mining producers and other mining professionals from around the country.

This year’s welcoming social will be held at the World Museum of Mining. Join us for an evening of appetizers, cocktails, and ghost stories at Hell’s Roaring Gulch. You’ll stroll back through time on the boardwalks of Hell Roarin' Gulch, an authentic reproduction of an 1890's mining town. In addition to 35 buildings carefully reconstructed from old materials, about 15 free-standing historic buildings were brought in to the Gulch intact. All are carefully filled with thousands of authentic antiques from early Butte and other nearby mining communities. The drawers in the Chinese Herbalists' Shop are full of real, original herbs and dried snakes (not just the skins!), and the containers on the pharmacist's shelves contain their original potions.

Optional activities at this year’s annual meeting include the popular four person golf scramble at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort’s golf course features an outstanding 6,741 yard, 18 hole, par 72 layout. Fairmont’s “mile high, mile long” 5th hole is recognized as one of the most challenging among Montana golf courses. The green is a mile high and the tee box is 649 yards away, making this par 5 the longest hole in Montana. Fairmont’s 3rd hole features Montana’s largest green, a three-tiered 10,000 square foot putting surface.

For those looking for an educational alternative, this year we will be including a tour of The Anselmo Mine. The Anselmo Mine is the best preserved of all the mine yards in Butte. Owned by Butte-Silver Bow County, it has been maintained in almost the same condition it was in when it shut down in 1959, after operating since 1887. You'll have a unique opportunity to learn how the mine worked, from the men who did the work themselves. Some of the miners say that the Anselmo is so much the way it was back in 1959 that it is as if the place was just shut down last week, and they would know where to find the tools that they laid down 40 years ago. This tour is a rare look into the past — a past that was vital to the forging of modern industrial America.

Don’t forget about our closing buffet at the War Bonnet Hotel, featuring renowned Certified Speaking Professional, Chad Hymas. “Fail your way to success.” “With his inspirational and humorous approach, Chad touches the audience by sharing the failures and successes he has experienced while attempting to relearn how to use his body! Through his personal experiences, he teaches listeners that regardless of our current circumstances, we have the power to change our own future. By accepting responsibility, taking risks, and being willing to fail we can go through pain with the enthusiasm necessary to reach our ultimate goals.” Chad has shared his personal message and entertained many audiences from organizations such as Wells Fargo, Blue Cross Blue Shields, VastFX, IHC, Coca Cola, and the Utah Jazz. The Wall Street Journal calls Chad Hymas one of the 10 most inspirational people in the world!
