The University of Southern Nevada, College of Pharmacy will be offering Nevada Pharmacy Law March 19, 2008 and April 16, 2008 at our Henderson, Nevada location. Registration and refreshments will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Speaker: Ron Shockey, RPh., Inspector, Nevada Board of Pharmacy By the end of this program, the pharmacists or technicians will be able to:
- Apply pharmacy laws regarding labeling requirements for prescriptions dispensed in the community setting.
- Describe requirements for ordering schedule II drug products.
- Identify situations in which information in a schedule II prescription can be legally changed.
- Recognize situations in which counseling on a prescription must occur.
- Describe the applicable laws regarding the transfer of prescriptions between pharmacies.
- Identify the appropriate ratio of technicians to pharmacists according to laws in Nevada.
- Describe who may perform order entry duties in a hospital or community pharmacy.
- Identify proper procedures for notifying the Nevada Board of Pharmacy for address and employment changes.
Target audience: Pharmacists and technicians practicing in Nevada No outside funding has been provided.
The University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a Provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 1.0 hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing education credit (ACPE program numbers 455-000-08-005-L03-P and 455-000-08-005-L03-T) after completion of a post-test with a score of 80% or better. First accredited program offering: March 19, 2008.
The Nevada Pharmacy Law program changes in content every 2 years, so all Nevada Pharmacy Law programs offered by USN in 2008—2009 are the same. Statements of credit will be mailed to participants no later than 30 days after the completion of the program.
