The ninth annual Iowa Venture Capital and Entrepreneur Conference will offer companies, entrepreneurs, and investors a broad range of networking opportunities, informational workshops, and presentations. Discussions will focus on an array of topics including; disaster preparedness, finding a good coach and entrepreneurial management. New to the conference this year: one-on-one sessions for entrepreneurs to meet with advisors in the areas of finance, legal, marketing and business operations.
Iowa Department of Economic Development director Mike Tramontina and John Pappajohn, one of Iowa’s premier entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, will host the conference.
Setting the stage for the conference is keynoter Mark Charles Thompson, co-author of the International bestseller Success Built to Last. Mark Thompson is one of America's top executive coaches and a sought-after speaker who has interviewed hundreds of the world's enduringly successful people from presidents of nations, billionaires and Olympians, to Academy Award winners, Nobel laureates, and CEOs.
In 2006, Mr. Pappajohn launched the Iowa Business Plan Competition [www.iowabusinessplancompetition.com]. The competition, now in its third year, is designed to stimulate business development and provide recognition to those who submitted outstanding business plans. For the past two years, Mr. Pappajohn has awarded $50,000 each year to the top three winners as start-up seed money. This year’s competition winners will be announced at the conference.
