APICS BASICS OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
This course addresses the basic concepts and tools used in managing the flow of materials from suppliers to customers. The purpose of this course is to introduce basic supply chain concepts and terminology, as related to operations planning and control activities including: demand management, forecasting, master planning, material and capacity planning, production activity control, purchasing, inventory management, distribution, quality, Lean/JIT, and Theory of Constraints. Also discussed are the relationships and interfaces among the various supply chain activities.
Basics of Supply Chain Management is the recommended prerequisite for the remaining four CPIM training modules Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling & Planning, Execution & Control of Operations, and Strategic Management of Resources.
This course is the foundation module in the APICS CPIM certification series. It is intended for Operations and Supply Chain professionals who want to improve their professional knowledge and skills in and master the APICS Body of Knowledge terminology and concepts. It is the recommended prerequisite for the other four CPIM certification modules (shown below). This course is highly recommended for anyone pursuing their APICS CPIM certification.
