Description

The Batterer Intervention Services Coalition of Michigan (BISC-MI) invites you to participate in our Fall Stone Soup Gathering on November 15, 2013 at the Offices of ACCESS in Dearborn Michigan.

ACCESS Community Health & Research Center
6450 Maple St.
Dearborn, MI 48126

We will meet from 9:30am-4:00pm to celebrate the work we do and hear from our batterer intervention program (BIP) colleagues as they share favorite and effective tools and activities used in group work. Registration is from 9:30am-10:00am and the program will start promptly at 10:00am.

The day's interactive format will allow us to share ideas, think creatively about utilizing new interventions, discuss challenging issues, evaluate current efforts, and improve the work we do with batterers as we work on achieving perpetrator accountability and victim safety.

BISC-MI is able to provide six BIPSCC continuing education credits offered at no additional charge. Because of the unique format of this event, no specific MCBAP or social work credits are available.

We especially hope that those who facilitate BIPs will attend; but we also welcome any service providers who work with victims, batterers, children, families or the legal system.

We encourage batterer intervention program staff to contribute a tool or activity that you have found effective in your work.

When you register you will be asked if you would like to present on a tool or resource. Registration is open to all and you are welcome (but not required) to share a tool or resource on the topics below:
Engagement
Accountability
Policies & Procedures
Assessment of Men Who Batter & Women Who Use Force
Reporting
Group Activities & Techniques
Termination/Closure
"Aftercare"

* If there are too many presenters we will do our best to cover all of the above topic areas and will keep track of your offer to bring tools and resources for future Stone Soup presentations.

We hope to see you there. Help BISC-MI turn this Stone Soup into a rewarding meal for all!
