Please join me and my administration for our first Summit on economic opportunities for local businesses "People of New Orleans...Rebuilding New Orleans." I have invited local business, industry, and labor representatives to join us on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 from 8am-12:30pm at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel, Preservation Hall, on the second floor.
Since taking office, I have put forth initiatives promoting opportunities for local and minority businesses. My commitment to economic development and creating a New Orleans of the 21st Century depends on the success of businesses like yours.
Joining us for the summit will be the Capital Program Director for the Recovery School District, Project Managers for the construction of the Department of Veterans Affairs and University Medical Center Hospitals, Executive Director of the Sewerage and Water Board, and representatives from the United States Army Corps (USACE), along with key executives from oil and gas, maritime, aviation, labor, high-tech industries, and community based organizations.
During the summit we will provide information regarding the city's reconstruction projects. We will conduct listening sessions to learn about your concerns and to identify any obstacles we may anticipate along the way. City and community agency representatives will be available to address technical assistance and information on various issues including: access to credit, working capital, bonding, insurance, and other services.
We are committed to a robust, accessible, and result oriented process. We look forward to your participation in the Economic Opportunities Summit.
Please join us on November 30th, for "People of New Orleans...Rebuilding New Orleans" and renew your commitment to creating a great City. For more information contact the Urban League at 504-620-2332.
