Course Description and Statement of Need
This CME course is designed to educate clinicians on the most current data and practical evidence-based information on clinically relevant issues associated with benign and malignant breast disease. The curriculum will include topics on gynecologic issues, cardiac disease, fertility and pregnancy, quality of life, and genetics after a breast cancer diagnosis as well as prevention, breast imaging, and high risk breast lesions.

Learning Objectives
  • Apply new strategies for breast cancer prevention and promote the best standard of breast care and screening
  • Use AJCC or other appropriate staging in clinical practice, which includes the use of appropriate prognostic indicators and evidence-based national guidelines for treatment planning
  • Evaluate the most updated breast imaging technology and its applicability in patient care
  • Evaluate the clinical implications of carrying one of these mutations and the options that are available to patients to help manage their cancer risk 
  • Evaluate the multitude of genetic mutations associated with breast cancer and potential clinical implications of carrying one of these mutations 
  • Summarize the current options and recent recommendations associated with fertility and pregnancy after breast cancer treatment 
  • Recognize patients at psychosocial high risk and discuss the current options that may help those patients with quality of life and/or sexuality issues after treatment for breast cancer
  • Assess the risks associated with the most recent forms of hormone replacement therapy and the appropriate indications for use
  • Recognize the risks associated with various types of breast cancer treatment and apply strategies to reduce side effects and prevent the development of adverse cardiovascular events
Credit Designation Statement
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal.
