Course Description:

This first in a series of three wellness courses introduces the Yoga Calm® wellness system, highlighting its basic principles and classroom tools including breathing exercises, simple yoga poses, social/emotional skill development activities, relaxation/storytelling processes and emotional guidance techniques. Through lecture, hands-on learning, reflection and discussion, you’ll learn how Yoga Calm’s unique integration of physical, mental and emotional skills-building supports both learning and well-being.

Suitable for all levels of abilities, with no yoga experience necessary, this course will provide you with the basic knowledge and ability to immediately begin teaching basic yoga activities, stress reduction and focusing techniques, and social emotional skill development activities. You will also learn more than 20 activities and class plans that can be taught in a variety of settings to instill healthy, lifelong physical, mental and emotional habits in children – and yourself.

This course is designed for PreK-12 educators, college professors, parents, counselors, treatment center staff, occupational therapists, yoga teachers, and any other adults that work with children.

Our new hybrid course design allows you to begin your coursework as soon as you register, with online videos, readings and resources. It’s a great way to learn at a convenient time and location and to repeatedly watch and practice activities. Then you will be ready to deepen your knowledge with a full day of experiential activities and Q&A sessions when we meet in person.

Coursework applies toward the Yoga Calm Youth Instructor and Adult Instructor (Yoga Alliance RYT-200) Certification programs. Washington State Clock hours available. Certificate of training hours provided.

This course is a prerequisite to Physical Connections to Learning and Social/Emotional Connections to Learning.

No previous yoga experience is necessary.


Lyndsay Morris, MED, RYT-200 is the founder of Generation Wellness. She is a Certified Yoga Calm Trainer/Teacher and a Registered Yoga Teacher who has a passion for teaching mind/body techniques for optimal learning and living. She has worked with thousands of children and adults, using Yoga Calm in after-school programs, classrooms, groups, individual counseling, and trainings. Her teaching and school counseling background laid the foundation for teaching and training people of all ages, with a kind, compassionate heart. Lyndsay received the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award in 2011 for her innovative, active, and relational ways of teaching life skills and counseling children and teens. Lyndsay passionately believes that everyone can live successful, happy, and balanced lives if they are taught the tools in which to do so.
