Superior International Wrestling Camp

A chance for cadet and junior-age wrestlers to learn technique and improve wrestling skills and knowledge.  The last two days of the camp will feature competitions allowing all athletes multiple matches.  Athletes from Sweden will participate in this camp, other countries are also expected to attend. 

The camp will be coached by NMU Olympic Training Site head coach Rob Hermann.  Coach Hermann is a two-time USA Wrestling coach of the year, 1996 head Olympic coach and 2000 assistant Olympic coach.  Hermann also is a gold certified coach with USA Wrestling's National Coaches Education Program. 

Who:        Cadet and Junior age wrestlers
Dates:       Practice dates are June 5th-10th.  Athletes may arrive on the 4th and depart on the 11th.
Cost:         $350 includes meals and housing, additional fee of $50/person/day for arriving early on June 3 and departing late on June 12.
Location:  Practices will be held in the Olympic Training Site wrestling room on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.  Athletes will stay in Meyland hall on the NMU campus. 

Housing:
Camp participants will be housed in Meyland Hall. Bed linen and towels are provided for each guest. The floor includes 2 T.V. rooms, 2 meeting rooms, and two sun rooms. The NMU campus is a tobacco and alcohol free campus.

If you are arriving outside of those hours a number will be posted for you to call and our building staff will assist you. You will be issued a room key and a meal card. Your meal card also gives you access to the outside doors after hours.

What to bring to camp:
  • Work out gear/shoes for the wrestling mat
  • Towel/soap for the locker room (towels for dorm use only are provided)
  • Shoes appropriate for playing soccer and hiking/running outside
  • Light jacket and/or rain coat- athletes will walk to/from practice and dining
  • Laundry rooms in the dorms are available at no cost
How to get here:
The Marquette Sawyer International Airport is serviced by the Delta and American Airlines/US Airways. Bus service into Marquette is provided by Greyhound/Indian Trails.
