May 11-14,  marks the 40th annual Birmingham Audubon Mountain Workshop.
We hope you will join us as we explore the natural sciences of Alabama's Southwestern Appalachians region and enjoy all the other  activities associated with this event.  We invite you to look over the schedule, the faculty biographies and the course descriptions to get a better understanding of why the Birmingham Audubon Mountain Workshop has attracted nature lovers for generations.

If you are new to Birmingham Audubon Mountain Workshop and want to sample it, you can register as a One Day Participant and select courses for either Friday or Saturday.

Class topics may include animal ecology, beginning and advanced bird identification, botany, stream biology, mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians, geology and fossils, canoeing, mountain crafts, and many more. Classes take place on the campus of Alpine Camp and around Mentone, an old Alabama resort area featuring rustic cabins and lodges, broad mountain vistas and clear streams. Little River flows for almost its entirety atop Lookout Mountain carving the Little River Canyon on the way to the Coosa River Valley. The Young Naturalist Program is a curriculum based program for children ages 5 to 12.  The Young Naturalist courses and activities are taught and supervised by our academic adult faculty along with Birmingham Audubon staff.  Young Naturalists love this program that includes lots of hands on activities and extensive science and nature based learning. An adult must be responsible for Young Naturalists  during non program hours.
