Class Overview: This seminar addresses the key issues of the 2015 International Building Code® (IBC®) and ASCE 7-10 wind load calculations, as well as the related design requirements. In-depth discussions of ground surface roughness and wind exposure categories are provided. Detailed design examples demonstrate the envelope procedure, directional procedure, as well as the alternate all-heights method.

Speaker: Mark Chang, PE, SE graduated from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1983 with a Master of Architecture degree. He has 34 years of working experience in the building industry including 27 years of plan review (4 years with ICC, 23 years with Forum Engineers and City of Bellevue). He has designed and reviewed many residential, commercial, institutional, medical, educational, industrial, and high-rise buildings; materials include structural steel, concrete, wood, etc. Mark joined City of Bellevue as a Structural Plans Examiner in 1990. He has been serving the NCEES structural engineer license examination committee for 15 years writing and grading SE exams. He also serves as an ICC trainer providing structural and life-safety seminars to governmental agencies as well as private design firms in the United States, Taiwan, Abu Dhabi, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc. He spent a year between 2010 and 2011 working as an ICC Code Consultant in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates training the municipal engineers. Mark is an ICC certified preferred provider for building code training courses.
