The Innovation Imperative
(TS//SI/TK//US Only)

Coming on the heels of recent announcements of Chinese advancements in quantum computing, communications and encryption, timed to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of Russia's launch of Sputnik I, TECHINT 2017 seeks to invoke the warnings of numerous experts that we are being outpaced by strategic competitors in science and R&D.

We believe that we are at another "Sputnik Moment".  These developments compel a reassessment of our approach to science and demand stronger and deeper professional relationships across the government and between the public and private sectors, along with an accompanying overall increase in the pace of government science leading to the development of new technical capabilities.  In short, a significant change in national behavior, and a more aggressive approach to the foundational principles of American innovation, is now necessary.

TECHINT 2017 also seeks to provide a format by which (a) key government management speakers describe their vision and initiatives; (b) case studies provide opportunities for deep dives into emerging challenges to identify the  technologies needed; and (c) collaboration panels explore potential inter-agency opportunities to leverage new and existing technologies and, overall, accelerate the process by which we connect science to our mission needs.

With TECHINT 2017 the Advanced Technical Intelligence Association (ATIA) also  builds on our ongoing effort to support improvements in our government's ability to accomplish these objectives, including how we "Find, Fund, Leverage and Foster" innovation and support enhanced technical capabilities, "wherever they are located and however they can be developed or found".

We welcome your thoughts on these important challenges and look forward to your participation in this important event.  In the meantime, thank you for your support of technical intelligence.
