Energy Workshop for K-12 Educators


The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project and Louisville Gas & Electric Company (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities Company (KU) are pleased to announce the upcoming Energy Education Workshop in Richmond, KY. Classroom teachers (K-12) will have a unique opportunity to learn about energy in a fun and exciting way!

Thanks to the Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence sponsorship, there is no cost to attend the workshop. Breakfast and lunch are included!  Substitute reimbursement forms will be provided at the end of the workshop.  Please note: substitute costs will be reimbursed directly to school districts. If your district has any questions, they should contact NEED at 1-800-875-5029.

 

The NEED Project’s mission is to promote an energy conscious and educated society. NEED is the nation’s leading provider of energy education programs and materials to schools. This program includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators.

 

Workshop Resources and Benefits

  • All NEED learning activities and curriculum are correlated to the Kentucky Core Content and Program of Studies in Science and other disciplines.
  • The program will make teaching energy fun and exciting as you return to your classroom.
  • Participation in this workshop provides educators with FREE use of NEED’s Science of Energy Kit OR Energy Works kit that teach the concepts of force, motion, light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism and energy transformations through hands-on activities.  Order forms will be submitted at the workshop so make certain you know the exact date when you’ll want your kit delivered to your school.   
  • Additional curriculum materials to teach about energy and energy resources, including electricity and energy efficiency, will be provided.
  • EILA Credit:  for attendees in supervisory roles, EILA certificates of attendance awarding six (6) contact hours, will be provided.
  • Substitute reimbursement forms will be provided at the end of the workshop and submitted MUST be submitted no later than 30 days following the workshop date.
