The Colorado Legacy Foundation’s 3rd Annual Healthy Schools Summit brings together education and health stakeholders from across the state to focus on policies and best practices for creating, enhancing and maintaining healthy, safe and welcoming schools for all students.

The day-long Summit will include:

Breakfast: 7 am – 9:45 am
The Healthy School Champions’ Scorecard Breakfast

This recognition event will award 32 schools for their best practices in adopting and implementing a coordinated approach to health and wellness strategies, as measured by their scores on the Healthy School Champions’ Scorecard. Monetary awards will be presented by the Commissioner of Education, Robert Hammond. This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Charles Basch, Richard March Hoe Professor of Health Education at Columbia University Teachers College.



Morning Breakout Sessions: 9:45 am – 11:00 am
Six morning workshop sessions with local and national health and wellness experts will provide networking opportunities, tangible tools and resources, best practices, how to’s, and the latest research for enhancing and implementing the health and wellness practices that positively impact student academic outcomes.

Legacy Luncheon: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
The 2012 Legacy Luncheon will feature American journalist, author of The Two Percent Solution and senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, Matt Miller.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Six afternoon workshop sessions with local and national health and wellness experts will provide practical applications with a focus on safe and welcoming schools, community, parent and youth engagement, stating the case and sustainability.

Closing Plenary Speaker: 2:45 pm – 3:30 pm
Dr. James Marks, Senior Vice President and Director of the RWJF Health Group, will bring the Summit to a close.

Continuing education credit will be offered to all Summit attendees.
