an OPEN NH special 10 week course delivery

Online Course Model

There is a 1 week orientation unit followed by 9 weeks of content. The course content is 100% online and no additional materials are required. Each unit consists of readings and participation in discussions.  You should plan to schedule approximately 4-5 hours each week to commit to the course. Following successful completion of the course, you will earn a Certificate of Completion for 50 contact hours of professional development.  You may also complete this course for graduate credit.

CE-09 Afterschool Basics
Afterschool Basics is a ten unit course that provides an overview of youth developmental and afterschool programming concepts designed to support afterschool staff in providing quality experiences and interactions for youth. The content and curriculum in this course supports the Direct Service afterschool credential, however it is open for all and can be accessed for graduate credit and/or professional development hours. The course was developed in order to train emerging afterschool professionals, support NH Afterschool Credential requirements, and provide up-to-date resources in the field of afterschool. The three 3-week modules cover: Social, Emotional and Cognitive Development, Physical Development and Safety and Curriculum Development.

The course can is not offered in regular OPEN NH sessions, only in special session and by special request through a district cohort registration.

  • The registration fee for this special 10 week course is $130.00.

    Note:  District cohort registration is done through a different process.  Please do not use the online registration link above if you are part of a district cohort group.
