This informative webinar is designed primarily to assist those individuals considering starting a church consulting practice. The participant will grow in their understanding of things they should consider before taking this step.

The presenter speaks from personal experience about:

- Discerning when and how to start a practice
- Legal and IRS considerations in your practice startup
- What help should you get to launch your practice?
- What help will you need to manage your practice?
- How to draft a church consulting business plan
- How to develop marketable church consulting services
- Generalist, specialist, or both?
- Alternative church consulting pricing strategies
- Tips for effective consulting practice management.

The primary focus will be for the person launching a solo or group practice or who has already launched a practice. However, many of the concepts will be transferable for denominational leaders and those contemplating starting a charitable non-profit funded by donations.

Training Instructor:

Jim Barber is the Executive Director of and a certified consultant with the Society for Church Consulting. He launched Barber Church Consulting in 2010 after voluntarily consulting from 2003-2010.

During his corporate accounting career, he earned his MBA and helped launch a $1.2B corporation, Alliant Techsystems, as a spin-off from Honeywell. Following a call to ministry, he earned his MATS degree and began a 15-year period of executive pastor ministry. During his leadership tenure with his church,  he was ordained by the EFCA and the church grew from 200 to 1400 in weekly worship attendance. In 2005, He was also instrumental in the launch of a community involvement non profit affiliated with his church called BridgeLink.

In addition to the organizational experience above, Jim has also helped launch a non profit from a for profit company and is currently co-coaching someone who plans to launch a marriage and family ministry within the next year. He enjoys helping others find their church consulting path through his work with the Society, and assisting churches address barriers to growth and effectiveness.
