Agriculture In The Classroom (AITC) involves a network of state-based programs providing a wealth of opportunities for embedding agriculture, food and natural resources education into the K-12 curriculum.  These programs seek to improve student achievement by applying authentic agricultural examples to teach core curriculum concepts in science, social studies, language arts, math and nutrition.  These programs cultivate an understanding and appreciation of the food and fiber system that we rely on every day.

Each year a national conference is held to bring leaders in agricultural literacy together and to share ideas and resources.  This conference also provides a wealth of opportunities to expand your personal and professional knowledge in and about agriculture.  Those benefiting from the conference will include:
        * Educators of all grade levels  * Commodity/Agricultural producers
* AITC program staff * STEM educators
* School administrators * Higher education staff and professors
* Curriculum and content specialists * Informal educators
* AITC volunteers/board members * High school agricultural educators

This conference will feature rigorous and engaging workshops and learning labs.  You'll have the opportunity to network at the exhibit fair and to access free educational materials via partner organizations and state AITC programs.  The traveling tours will expose you to the diversity and quality of Minnesota's agriculture including: various farms, renewable energy development, processing and natural resources.  And Cris Peterson and Andrew Zimmern will captivate you with their personal stories and passion for educating others about what they do and love!

A wide range of sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2013 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference ranging from $500 to $20,000 and above. If you are interested in discussing sponsorship opportunities, please contact Charlene Klein, Executive Director, Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation at 952-288-3905 or

Sponsor a Teacher for the 2013 Agriculture in the Classroom National Conference.  State AITC programs and the many local/county organizations they partner with are encouraged to sponsor a K-12 teacher to attend the 2013 National Conference.  First decide on what level of support you can provide, then seek-out area teachers to promote and recruit that "passionate teacher" who will bring back and share the many ideas and resources with other local school district teachers.

CHS Foundation Teacher Scholarships
A limited number of teacher scholarships (40 nationwide) will be awarded based on a competitive application process. This new opportunity is provided via sponsorship funds from the CHS Foundation located in St. Paul, MN.  CHS is a global food and energy cooperative.  Application deadline was March 1, 2013 and recipients will be notified by the end of March.

If interested, you will be able to earn both continuing education and graduate credits for participating in the 2013 National Conference.  The forms and fees will be handled when you check-in at the conference.  Check with your state AITC program staff about scholarships to offset the cost of the credit program and/or the conference in general.  More information will be posted on this website when available.
