TRE is a simple technique to release stress or tension from the body that accumulates from everyday circumstances of life, difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences (e.g., natural disasters, social or domestic violence).

Using six yoga‐like exercises, TRE helps to release deep tension from the body by evoking self‐controlled muscular shaking. The process is unique in that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body, with gentle tremors that reverberate outward along the spine, releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium. The exercises are a simple form of stretching and are used to gently trigger these voluntary muscle tremors.

Once the technique is learned and mastered after several sessions, the warm-up exercises can be accelerated or replaced with your normal exercise activity like walking or yoga, and the technique then becomes a quick and effective method for consistent relaxation. Eventually, these tremors will evoke themselves naturally in a rest position to reduce any stress or tension that was accumulated over the course of the day.

TRE is being used by thousands of people around the world as an effective tool for releasing chronic traumatic stress, physical tension and emotional trauma. It is also quickly becoming a relaxing way to release the everyday stress, tension and anxiety that comes from the daily pressures of life.

Study TRE with Its Founder

TRE was developed by David Berceli, PhD, an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution. For 22 years, Berceli lived and worked in war‐torn countries of Africa and the Middle East. Along with individual trauma counseling, he has provided specialized trauma recovery assistance to United States military personnel, national and international relief agencies, and government and non‐government organizations whose staff are living and working
in trauma inducing environments.

David Berceli’s books include Trauma Releasing Exercises: A Revolutionary New Method for Stress & Trauma Recovery and The Revolutionary Trauma Release Exercises: Transcend Your Toughest Times. A clinical social worker, licensed massage therapist and certified bioenergetics therapist, he currently travels around the world teaching the TRE™ self‐healing modality to empower those who suffer.
