Map and Directions
The  Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on the morning of Sunday, September 8, 2013 at William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower in Downtown, Nashville, Tennessee. 343 Firefighters will climb 110 stories in remembrance of the 343 FDNY Firefighters that died 10 years ago at the Twin Towers on 9/11/01.

The stair climb was chosen for two reasons:
1/ FDNY Firefighters at the Twin Towers on 9/11/01 had to climb the stairs of the 110 story buildings in order to rescue and evacuate people and to reach the fire floors.
2/ A commitment to Firefighter and community safety through physical fitness and training.

The 343 Firefighters participating in the event will be wearing full gear (from 60 to 80 pounds) and climbing for someone specifically. Each climber will be given a badge to wear with the name and photograph of one of the FDNY firefighters killed on 9/11/01.

Participants must be Firefighters, and should be in top physical condition, as this is an extremely demanding stair climb. Participants are encouraged to wear your full turnouts, SCBA, and carry a piece of equipment used for high-rise fires (ie: 2.5" hose pack or a forcible entry tool). However, you may participate in turnouts without equipment, or wearing gym shorts, tennis shoes, and a t-shirt. Remember: THIS IS NOT A RACE!

We will share in a commemorative ceremony and moment of silence prior to the climb in the parking garages. Sign-in will begin at 0745 and end at 0830. All climbers MUST be checked in prior to the 0830 cut-off. The ceremony will commence following registration.

Firefighter participants will be grouped into companies of seven for safety purposes. Each team will climb 28 stories four times to complete 110 stories. The start times will be staggered with the first teams starting shortly after 0900.

Bottled water will be provided but make sure that you thoroughly hydrate before, during, and after the climb.
